Does Vorby work with Siri?

Yes. The Vorby iPhone app adds Siri shortcuts, so you can ask "Hey Siri, where is my passport in Vorby?" and hear the room and the exact spot spoken back. You can also ask what a room holds, and tell Siri that you moved something or put something away. No setup is needed beyond installing the app and signing in.

Do my items show up in iPhone search?

Yes. Vorby publishes every item to Spotlight, the search you get by swiping down on the iPhone Home Screen. Type part of an item name and it appears with its photo, room and location. Tap it to open Vorby on that item. The index lives on your device and is erased when you sign out.

Does Siri need an internet connection?

Asking does not. Siri answers from the copy of your inventory already on your phone, so it works in the basement, the garage or in Airplane Mode. Recording a move or adding a new item by voice does need a connection, because those are saved to your account.

Can I use Alexa with Vorby?

Yes. Link your Vorby account in the Alexa app and you can ask "Alexa, ask Vorby where my passport is" from any Echo device.

Swipe down on the Home Screen, type a few letters, and your belongings come up beside your apps and contacts, each with its photo, room and exact spot. Tap one and Vorby opens straight to it.

Every item is indexed automatically as you add and edit. There is nothing to turn on.
Vorby's shortcuts show up there too, so you can run Find Item or Scan Item without speaking.
The index stays on your device, and is erased when you sign out or switch homes.

Good to Know

What do I need to set up?

For Siri and iPhone search, nothing beyond the Vorby iPhone app, signed in, with your items synced once. There is no skill to enable and no account to link. For Alexa, link your Vorby account once in the Alexa app.

Does it work without a connection?

Asking does. Siri answers from the copy of your inventory on your phone, so a basement or a garage with no bars is fine. Telling Siri that you moved something, or adding a new item by voice, does need a connection, because those are saved to your account first, so a later sync can never quietly undo them.

What if I own two of something?

Siri asks which one you mean, and tells them apart by where they live. If you add a second one by voice, Vorby says so out loud, "you now have 2 of them," so an accidental double is obvious right then rather than months later.

Is my inventory private?

The search index lives on your device and never leaves it. Signing out empties it, and so does switching to another home, so one household's belongings never surface for the next person holding the phone.

Which languages can I speak?

Siri phrases are in English today. The answers Vorby speaks are translated, and the rest of the app is available in English, Spanish, French and German.
